Free Fall (German)
Nothing really new here, but has a great soul with great performances by the actors, a good script and beautifully directed. Feels naturally filmed, about a thirtyish police officer who falls in love with a male co-officer and the repercussion of his indecision. [read review]

Maurice (British)
Exquisitely filmed period gay romance drama that is as timeless today as when it first appeared. Flawless performances that are heart wrenching and true to E.M. Forster’s original novel. Captivating, moving, and ultimately intriguing of a time when this sort of love was utterly forbidden. [read review]

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (Australian)
This is a hilarious road trip of a movie that, once it snags you, takes you on an often-outrageous adventure through the Australian outback. Filled with charm, wit, style, and memorable music from the 80’s as it’s three central characters find more than they bargain for in themselves and each other. Guaranteed to make you laugh so hard your eye lashes will curl all by themselves. [read review]

Velvet Goldmine (British)
A visual romp through the world of 1970’s glam rock, where anything can happen and often done. It’s Citizen Kane sort of story structure leads to unpredictable places often spiraling out of control. A stunning film to watch with a great sound track but often loses its way along the journey. Overall very fun to watch with these three great actors: McGregor, Rhys Meyers, and Bale in their youth; giving powerhouse performances and often naked. [read review]

This is one of those rare movies that reach into the depth of our souls to show us a poetic portrait of our humility and ultimately our humanity. This movie captures that bittersweet journey someone diagnosed with cancer must tread in order to come to terms with one’s own mortality. This is a beautifully written, masterfully directed, and superbly acted film that takes you on an extraordinary voyage into the heart. [read review]
