I got a call yesterday morning at 6:00 am that my father was in the hospital out in Superior, with an irregular heart. I was on the road in about 20 minutes and spent most of the day out there with him, without Internet. Sorry no posting yesterday. My father is about to reach his 74 Birthday in about two weeks and over all has been in pretty good health. [read more]

Wow, it’s hard to believe I have made it to the half way point of this project. Half a year down already. It has gone quicker than I ever imagined and it feels like I have covered a lot of ground. I figured that I would run out of things to say, but that hasn’t happened yet, and I still have a lot more thoughts swimming in my head. [read more]

Have your ever considered what our country might look like today if the Declaration of Independence had been signed by a group of artists instead of Statesmen? Several years ago I was at a party with John Keegan and he brought up the idea, so now every Fourth of July I ponder the question and it just kind of makes me chuckle. [read more]

I am not the kind of guy that takes the easy way out of a situation and do not look for a fast solution. I love and can suspend myself in the process of things in which I become involved. I like to savor the experience of whatever it is I am doing and explore it from a multitude of different perspectives. [read more]

I have recently been cleaning and glancing through my massive files and was astonished by the volume of work I have created this year. What I post on here is just a very small tip of the iceberg of images I have created. I reconnected with Chad yesterday, whom I haven’t talked to in some time. I knew he had moved back to his home town some time back. [read more]

We are revealed by the images we create, as scan my files I see my life flashing before me through all these images. So I have been playing with the idea of creating some sort of book using some of my images. Now-a-days there seems to be all kinds of publishing software that give you complete control in creating layouts and self publishing. I have been looking heavily into one called Blurb that seems to give you a variety of shapes, styles and texture of pages. [read more]

Summer always feels like a time of sex, late evening nights when the air begins to cool, becoming a bit intoxicated, wandering around town with a friend, that I gaze upon with desire. When I was younger it seems sex was always so easy and enticing. Seduction was always possible, and being from Montana, was probably with almost anyone. [read more]

My intention is not to make people pretty in my images, but instead to expose the complexity of our existence. Yesterday, I worked on two sets of images of two different people. One just a portrait; candid images of a young filmmaker artist who visited my studio one day, and the other, nudes of a man I have been having a conversation with on line for several years now. Yesterday, my young film maker friend come by for a visit. He is also a photographer and wanted me to help him look at some of his images objectively to begin to pull them together in some sort of show. He is a young man in his 20’s who lacks confidence, lives in a very introspective world filled with such emotion and feeling that he doesn’t quite yet know how to express. [read more]

Many years ago I saw a show on Broadway about a young small town boy from Australia who has an enthusiastic dream to become a performer. He is taken under the wing of Judy Garland and married her daughter Liza Minnelli, eventually becoming a huge success of his own. The show was called THE BOY FROM OZ and had a brilliant cast including Hugh Jackman as Peter Allen. [read more]

What a whirlwind of a morning and here it is afternoon and I still haven’t written my post for today. Last night when I got home I received an e-mail that my proposal to Kick Starter was accepted and I am good to proceed with the submission. I have spent most of morning pulling it together; figuring out what exactly I need, creating a budget, and analyzing how to best present this project. It’s really opening my eyes to the entire process as a whole. [read more]

My perceptions of my imagery is changing the more I begin to look at what I have been doing and try to examine what the process is becoming. It feels like I have jumped from the creative mode into a marketing mode and it makes me begin to look at the process differently. Almost like the humanity side of my creativeness is being extracted. I have quite possibly been through one of the worst processes of my life. Being interviewed on videotape. My life and work in the theater always kept me on the backside of the stage or camera, but this morning I created an interview for the submission of my project for Kick Starter. Jumping out of a plane on my 50th Birthday was not nearly as difficult as today. [read more]

I am a bit lost this morning; my mind seems to be filled with confusion and I just can’t seem to stay focused. Today it’s a journey to the down side of my existence. What is it about the male form that is so captivating and alluring? Is it something that stirs our desire? Is it the association with strength? Could it be that we are just drawn to the beauty of the flesh? Sometimes, in the summer when I am driving around town and I see men outside in shorts and no shirt, I have to pause and gaze upon them. It seems that weather they are actually in shape or not doesn’t really factor into my fascination, though a great chest and arms can captivate me further. [read more]

Terry Nude Mirror - self portrait
This morning The Naked Man Project takes another leap of faith in it’s evolution. In the past six and a half months it’s amazing how much we have grown. My ultimate goal was to create some kind of public showing of my images and work and hopefully have a publisher pick it up and we could do a book of some sort. Today I embark on a campaign to make this dream an eventual reality. [read more]

Everything seems to be underway with Kickstarter and it’s begun with a great start. Within the first hour I had two pledges that contributed $500 toward the goal. It was mind boggling to see such quick response. It has given me the confidence to really get this thing going and I now know I am on the right track. Then I woke up this morning to see that I am over half way to the goal with in the first 24 hours. [read more]

The first image I have chosen for the portfolio is called “la danse lumière” the dance light. I was just beginning photography and this was the first real nude shoot. We had worked on several projects together and he was somewhat intrigued about me becoming a photographer because he knew of my fascination with theater and light. [read more]

The second image in the portfolio is called “Lying Torso”. I invited him into my studio, somewhat reluctantly because of the awkward experience with Darrin, and he accepted. [read more]
